Who we are?
Mitchell
Layton has been a part of the Washington D.C. and
Baltimore sports scene for over 25 years. He has distinguished
himself as an excellent photographer known for his creativity,
reliability and dedication to service.
His long-term relationships with the MCI Center, Washington
WIzards and Mystics, Washington Capitals and Georgetown University’s
Men’s basketball program have established him as the area’s
leading sports photographer.
In 2005 Mitchell added the Washington Nationals baseball
team to his list of clients. As the director of photographic
operations, Mitchell documents and archives all the Washington
Nationals games and events. He is also responsible for any
team photo requests and organizing photographic positions.
Mitchell has taken on many diverse and interesting assignments
that enlarged his talents to other feature and editorial work.
He has travelled the Okefenokee Swamp in Georgia for National
Geographic for Kids, shot print ads for Geico Insurance, and
photographed concerts for Los Angeles publicist Shock Inc.
to name a few.
He is published regularly in USA Today and ESPN The Magazine.
and has been seen in Newsweek, U.S. News and World Report,
Sports Illustrated, Sports Illustrated for Kids, Life Magazine,
T.V. Guide as well as many national and international trade
publications.
Mitchell’s high standards of service and professionalism
separate him from others as his 25 year relationship with
various professional teams and associations prove.
Jeffrey
Snyder, co-director of Washington Photo Workshops,
is a native Washingtonian, has been working as and with professional
photographers for over 30 years. Jeff was the lead contact
at Penn Camera for over 27 years, handling such clients as,
Reuters News Pictures, Getty Images, The Washington Post,
Agence France Presse and USA Today, plus hundreds of other
media outlets worldwide. and recently Jeff has joined Adorama
Camera's Pro Services and continues to work withPro's worldwide.
His expertise & technical abilities have gained the confidence
of photojournalists worldwide.
He is currently a contributing photographer to The Blood-Horse
magazine & website and has covered The Kentucky Derby,
Preakness Stakes, Belmont Stakes as well as The Breeders Cup
Championships for them. Jeff recently was a finalist for the
coveted National Thoroughbred Racing Association’s Eclipse
Award in Photography, and won the Maryland Jockey Club’s Jerry
Frutkoff award for photography in 2003.
Jeff is the in-house photographer in the DC area for Allied
Advertising, handling movie studio clients as MIRAMAX, Disney
Studios, FOX, and Paramount Pictures.
He has been involved with workshops surrounding professional
photographers across the country, from SportsShooter.com Luau’s
in LA, The Churchill Downs Photojournalism Seminar in Louisville,
KY, numerous Northern Short Courses in Photojournalism, plus
many more. He is also a regular contributor on SportsShooter.com.
Jeff has photographed events such as Super Bowl’s, Major
League Baseball, Movie Premiere’s, Concerts, and MTV Video
Music Awards to his son’s little league games. Besides The
Blood-Horse, Jeff’s images have been regularly published in
The Washington Post, US Weekly, People, Rolling Stone, Variety,
In Touch, and USA Today.
His level of professionalism and expertise with the latest
in digital photographic equipment and software has led him
to become the “go to” link for professional photographers
worldwide.
